Where to find Wooden planks?
I'm looking for a realtivly easy place to find wooden planks. At the moment i'm farming charr for charr carvings and then salavging them. Where's a good place to find wood? Cause I really need to craft some parchment for necro scars
Thanking You in Advance Gildor |

As above, anywhere you might find a lot of bows and staffs being dropped. Expert salvage if you can afford it and you should be getting about 10 planks per item.
If you are selling them to merchants wait until the price is around 60g for 10 for an extra bit of money |

For wood producing items, salvage vs. expert salvage makes no difference. Expert salvage on bows and staves is a waste because all you will ever get is wood (or bones from bone staves).
That is, of course, unless there is a weapon upgrade like a wrap or string or head, in which case you need expert salvage to recover it. The amount of wood you get from a bow/staff depends only on its level, which is basically how much damage it does. Max damage bows from the crystal desert give around 8-10 planks each. I think the shadow bows I get in the underworld are giving a bit more but I can't remember for sure. However, if you are farming charr you are only getting 2 or 3 planks per bow or charr carving, and you will be farming these for a very long time. At least you can get charr hides which you can convert to fur for free (collector in Ascalon) and sell for decent cash. For my necro, I farmed griffons (solo) with my warrior/monk. They drop a lot of bows and staves. The mods all sucked, but I only wanted the wood anyway. I got a lot of wood pretty fast. It's worth id'ing your bows and staves in case you get a good wrap, head, or string, then decide if you would rather expert salvage it to get the mod or regular salvage it for the planks. The chances of a really good mod are tiny, but you may ID a bow and get "highly salvageable". You can get 20 to 30 planks from one of those. Again, regular salvage for the wood, expert salvage for the mod if there is one. Salvaging wood for cash doesn't pay in my experience. You are better off selling the item most of the time. The only time I salvage wood is when I need it for armor or when I am out of inventory space. Also... if you find scrolls, expert salvage them. Sometimes you get parchment. The higher the level of the scroll, the more likely you will get parchment and the more you will get. |
